Save Zed agent conversations with your commits
VibeHub wires its MCP server into Zed as a context server, so the Zed agent can start sessions, append transcript turns, and attach them to commits.
Set it up
Install the context server
export VIBEHUB_TOKEN=vbh_… # Settings → API tokens in the dashboard
npx vibehub-zedWhat gets captured
- Zed agent conversations, as VibeHub sessions with transcript turns
- Links between those sessions and your git commits
How it works
The installer merges a context_servers.vibehub entry into ~/.config/zed/settings.json, writing a .vibehub.bak backup first.
Restart Zed, then check Agent Panel → Settings — the vibehub server should be listed with its tools.
Ask the agent to “log this conversation to VibeHub” or “capture this commit with our chat” and the vibehub_* tools handle sessions, commits, branches, and blame.
Zed + VibeHub FAQ
- My Zed settings.json has comments. Will the installer break it?
- No — the installer refuses to rewrite a commented file. Merge
settings.template.jsoninto your settings manually instead.
